1. How do I make ice cream with the flavors and Hijinx ice cream mix?
Blend 1 Hijinx packet with 1 flavor and 1.5 cups of warm water. For a creamier texture, use half & half instead of water. Let mixture stand for 30 minutes at room temperature, then freeze in an airtight container for 3-6 hours. As you would with any ice cream, thaw for about 5 minutes until scoopable. Then enjoy!
2. How long does it take to create ice cream with ice cream mix?
Your signature-flavor ice cream dessert will be ready to eat in just a few hours after you create it. Once you have blended your milk, ice cream mix, and favorite ingredients for 1-2 minutes, you’ll need to let your mixture sit for half an hour at room temperature. Then, it should freeze for anywhere from three to six hours. Once frozen, your ice cream should sit on your countertop for five to seven minutes, which will make it easy to scoop.
3. How does Hijinx work?
Magic! Just kidding. We’ve worked with a team of food scientists to develop a really unique mix of dry milk, along with gums and salts. When combined with milk, water, or any nondairy milk and then frozen, these ingredients activate and make ice cream!. Yes as simple as that!
4. Is HIJINX mix all-natural?
Hijinx ice cream mix is about as basic as it comes: sugar, milk, whey powder, natural flavoring (for a hint of vanilla), and natural gums which you'd find in pretty much any ice cream. They help to stabilize the ice cream and give it its texture. Since it is ice cream after all, it's not going to be sugar-free or low-calorie, but we're keeping it as clean as possible.
5. How much of the flavor bottle do I add?
Just dump that sucker into your blender! We've portioned out each flavor for you so you can simply blend and freeze with ideal results. Blend water, one flavor bottle, and one packet of Hijinx for a pint of unique, perfectly-flavored ice cream.
6. What are natural flavors?
Our flavors will transform your base ice cream flavor--just pour them in! A natural flavor is derived from plant, vegetable or fruit material. It does not contain any artificial or synthetic additives.
7. Are any of your flavors artificial?
Nope, all of our flavors are derived from plant and vegetable extracts, so you can rest assured you won't be adding any unnecessary chemicals.
8. Is it better to use milk or water?
For a sorbet/gelato hybrid with a stronger flavor, we'd recommend water. For a creamier, gelato-esque texture, we'd recommend half & half. You can use dairy alternatives, but note that lower-fat-content substitutes may yield icier results.
9. Can I use non-dairy milk?
Yep -- you can use any nondairy milk alternative with HIJINX ice cream mix. The texture will be similar to water-based results, due to the lower fat content.
10. What exactly is in this bottle?
Natural flavor concentrates contain Water, Gum Acacia, Natural Flavors, and Citric Acid.
11. Can I mix two flavor concentrates together?
While we are unable to recommend quantities for this, you are welcome to combine flavor concentrates. We'd strongly advise using only a portion of each bottle, to avoid overwhelming or alcohol-y tasting results.
12. Can I use this flavor concentrate for baked goods or anything else I cook?
You can, but we’ve specially proportioned each flavor vial to use with a single packet of Hijinx ice cream mix. We are unable to recommend quantities for other uses.
13. Can I add alcohol to my flavor?
Definitely. Check out this CHART of each type of alcohol. Typically, we recommend no more than 2 oz of hard liquor per Hijinx packet. For wine and beer, use 1 cup wine/beer and 1/2 cup water/half & half.
14. Can I add other things (like mix-ins) to my flavor? What and how do I add?
Yes! You can add candy, hot sauce, chocolate chips, or even vegetables to your flavors. For instance, you can mix in wasabi to add a spicy element to your ice cream. Swirl in your favorite raspberry jelly for a delicious, jelly ribbon. Even mix in your favorite candies, nuts or pretzels for a textural element. 15. Do I have to use a blender?
Not at all. You can use a whisk to thoroughly combine the powder with your milk. You can also shake the powder and milk in a (tightly sealed!) jar or container.
16. How can ice cream be an experience?
