Make Your Own Flavor

INGREDIENTS

  • HIJINX ice cream mix
  • 1 ½ cups whole milk
  • Your favorite flavoring ingredients

OPTIONAL

  • ½ cup heavy cream

HOW TO HIJINX

1. Warm the milk (and any other liquids the recipe calls for) over medium heat or microwave for 30 - 60 seconds (do not boil). Warming up the milk helps dissolve the powder in the liquid better. Or you might end up with grainy ice cream.

Whole milk, Rice Milk, Oat Milk, and Pea Milk result in creamy ice cream. Other milks produce slightly icier versions. With water, the texture is closer to a sherbet/sorbet/Italian ice/snow cones.

For the smoothest, creamiest, most luxurious 800-thread count ice cream texture, use 1/2 cup heavy cream & 1 cup milk

2. Using a blender, combine 1 packet of HIJINX ice cream mix with milk. Blend for one to two minutes or until thoroughly combined.

3. Let the mixture rest for 30 minutes on your counter at room temperature. Don't skip this step as this allows the gums to hydrate and do their magic, resulting in a creamy ice cream.

4. Transfer to a freezer-safe container with an airtight lid. Ensure the container seals properly so no moisture seeps inside (It's about the texture again :))

5. Stir in any mix-ins (varies per recipe) before freezing. And if you're obsessed with the better distribution of mix-ins, stir the mixture half-way through the freezing process (about 2-3 into the freeze)

6. Freeze for 3-6 hours. Exact time depends on the freezer you have and where in the freezer you're leaving the container (note: back of freezer is colder than the front of the freezer)

7. When frozen, rest for 5-7mins on countertop before scooping so the ice cream softens to a scoopable consistency.
