Be it DC or Marvel, create a flavor for your favorite hero!

WHAT YOU'LL DO

The best way to settle this question once and for all? Host a Marvel or DC party. Guests can bring their ingredients for a flavor inspired by their favorite superhero. While the ice cream chills, have a movie marathon and watch one from each franchise, then let the ice cream competition begin! Don't forget your capes!!

 

SAMPLE RECIPES

1. WONDER WOMAN: Brown Sugar and Raspberry Compote with Caramel Swirl

Wonder Woman stands as a symbol of truth, justice and equality to people everywhere. Red raspberries represent love and passion; caramel represents gold armor and the fight for justice; and brown sugar represents the bronze age of comics where her story originated.

INGREDIENTS
  • HIJINX ice cream mix
  • 1 ½ cups whole milk
  • ½ cup raspberry preserves
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • ⅓ cup caramel sauce
INSTRUCTIONS

1. Warm the milk and brown sugar over medium heat or microwave for 30 - 60 seconds (do not boil). Make sure brown sugar is fully dissolved.

2. Using a blender, combine 1 packet of HIJINX ice cream mix with the milk mixture. Blend for one minute or until thoroughly combined.

3. Transfer to a freezer-safe container with an airtight lid.

4. Let the mixture rest for 30 minutes on your counter.

5. After 30 minutes, gently stir in the raspberry preserve and caramel sauce. 

5. Freeze for 3-6 hours. Enjoy!

2. HULK: Basil Mint Fudge

The Hulk is known for his great strength. Basil and mint represent transformation and regeneration, and the chocolate chips pay homage to the originally intended coloring of the Hulk: grey!

INGREDIENTS
  • HIJINX ice cream mix
  • 1 ½ cups whole milk
  • 1 ½ cups basil, chopped
  • ¾ cup mint, chopped
  • ½ cup fudge, cubed (or chocolate chunks
  • 1-2 drops food coloring (OPTIONAL)
INSTRUCTIONS

1. Warm the milk, basil and mint over medium heat or microwave for 3 - 5 minutes (do not boil). 

2. Remove from heat and puree mixture in a blender. Allow mixture to sit for up to an hour, or desired taste. Stir the milk through a fine mesh strainer. 

3. Rewarm the milk on stove or in a microwave for 30-60 seconds (do not boil).

4. Using a blender, combine 1 packet of HIJINX ice cream mix with the strained milk mixture. Blend for one minute or until thoroughly combined.

3. Transfer to a freezer-safe container with an airtight lid.

4. Let the mixture rest for 30 minutes on your counter.

5. After 30 minutes, gently stir in fudge pieces.

5. Freeze for 3-6 hours. Enjoy!

3. BATMAN: Salted Dark Chocolate and Cherry

Batman is possibly the most iconic superhero of all time. Salted dark chocolate represents mystery, stamina and strength, and the cherries represent passion.

INGREDIENTS
  • HIJINX ice cream mix
  • 1 ½ cups whole milk
  • ½ teaspoon sea salt
  • 2 tablespoons dark cocoa powder
  • 1 cup cherries, pitted
  • ¼ cup brandy/orange juice
    INSTRUCTIONS

    1. Add ½ the cherries, brandy/orange juice and sugar into saucepan and bring to boil. Simmer for 10 minutes or until the cherries release juices and the juices thicken enough to coat the back of a spoon. Your cherry compote is ready!

    2. Next, warm the milk, cocoa powder and salt over medium heat or microwave for 30 - 60 seconds (do not boil). Make sure the cocoa powder and salt has fully dissolved.

    3. Using a blender, combine 1 packet of HIJINX ice cream mix with milk mixture. Blend for one minute or until thoroughly combined.

    4. Transfer to a freezer-safe container with an airtight lid.

    5. Let the mixture rest for 30 minutes on your counter.

    6. After 30 minutes, gently stir in the cherry compote.

    7. Freeze for 3-6 hours. Enjoy!
